Drone Survey:
Satpale Lake, Virar

Satpale Lake is located in Virar, near Mumbai. Drone survey for the lake and its immediate surroundings was conducted for Collaborative Design Studio LLP who are undertaking a project for its restoration. Aerial photographs from multiple drone flights along with Ground Control Points (GCPs) resulted in an accurate Orthophoto that was used to generate site plans and features.

Digital Surface Model (DSM) and Digital Terrain Models (DTM - using differential method) were processed to study the topography of the site.

360 degree aerial shots were also processed to understand the site setting.

A dense point cloud was also generated from the survey, resulting in a 3D textured mesh that can be used for more detailed volumetric analysis and visualization. This detailed point cloud allows for the identification of various features such as vegetation, buildings, and edges.

Additionally, the point cloud enables precise measurements of distances and areas, facilitates the creation of contour maps, and supports the development of digital elevation models (DEMs). It can also be used to monitor changes over time and enhance the accuracy of geographical information systems (GIS) by providing high-resolution spatial data.
