Parsarampuria Haveli
Digital Twin
A comprehensive photogrammetric documentation project was carried out in Nawalgarh, Rajasthan, combining terrestrial and aerial surveys to create a digital twin of the historic neighborhood. Highresolution datasets captured the urban fabric as well as detailed exterior volumetric models of two prominent havelis. These digital records provided accurate spatial and architectural information to
support conservation planning.
The Havelis were documented to guide their adaptive reuse as a heritage hotel, and for structural assessment and restoration works. The outputs ensure a reliable foundation for heritage management, conservation design, and long-term preservation of the Shekhawati legacy.

The documentation was carried out through extensive drone-based photogrammetry, capturing thousands of high-resolution images to reconstruct its intricate architectural form. The process presented significant challenges, particularly due to nearly invisible obstructions such as kite strings that criss-crossed the narrow lanes and courtyards around the Haveli. These delicate threads, almost imperceptible to both the pilot and the drone sensors, often interfered with flight paths and required repeated adjustments to ensure safe and complete coverage.

Over the course of the day, the changing light and sky conditions further complicated image capture. The Haveli’s deep courtyards, shaded balconies, and reflective surfaces responded differently to morning, noon, and evening light, demanding multiple flights under varying conditions to achieve uniform texture quality and accurate surface detail.

Detailed Model of Neighbourhood
The resulting dense point cloud serves as a highly detailed spatial archive of the building. It allows for a comprehensive understanding of the Haveli’s volumetric composition, spatial hierarchies, and material transitions. Through sectional profiles and contour extractions derived from the model, the documentation provides valuable insights into the architectural logic of the structure; its courtyards, projections, and layered facades, forming the foundation for further analysis, conservation planning, and digital reconstruction.
